Comparison of process engines

As an independent IT consultant, we see that it is a challenge to know and evaluate different software systems. The comparison of open source is especially important for our customers. For this reason, we have compared different process engines and development tools.

The automation process is a frequently mentioned concept in which an important criterion is the description of a process in an implementation language; this language is the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL). This article introduces three process, including both engines for executing BPEL code and three tools for graphical process modeling and automatic generation of BPEL code.

IBM WebSphere Process Server is one of the leading process engines in a service oriented architecture (SOA). As an IBM partner and service provider in the process environment, we know this product very well through a wealth of practical experience. In addition, we are experienced with open source products and Apache ODE BPEL Active, as we have used these in practice. We have chosen these three products for comparison.
